Problem with disintegration MBT soles

I have worn MBT shoes for a long time and really love them. However, I
am finding that the material betwen the sole and the shoe begins to
disintegrate about two years after I buy them. Out of warranty by that
time. The rest of the shoe is fine.

I had this happen with a second pair just recently. Thought there
might be a defect in the first pair, but now am wondering if there is
a design flaw?

As the material disintegrates, the shoe tends to collapse to one side
and makes walking uncomfortable. I threw away the first pair, but at
close to $300 I don't want to throw away another pair.

I filled the cavity in the first pair with Shoe Goo, but it did not
work out. The balance was off. Anyone else have this problem. I could

I have been having the same problem. Resole America repairs MBT's for $65 I believe,
that includes all shipping and repairs. Mine have been disintegrating much faster.
Possibly because I wear them every day and they do occasionally get wet. I bought
them because I have a titanium rod in my leg and was always in pain. They have
definitely relieved my pain issues but it is very discouraging that the masai insole is
so delicate!!! Most shoes I have had in the same working conditions last for years! And
by the way, my ars looks great because of them - heehee.

MY MBT walking runners have also seperated at the sole on the inside and they are only 2 month old. It looks like cut slits just above the sole on both L & R The same shoe did the exact same thing after 3 month and Walking Room replaced them and even paid the shipping. I'm convinced its a design flaw. Has any one else had this issue?

I have had the almost exact experience of everyone else - again at
around two years.

Is there any solution other than throwing them away and learning a very
expensive lesson?

I have had the same problem 3 times and each time after only 6 months-1st time
they replaced them no questions asked, second tome they said they were one
week over 12 month warranty (of the original pair) even though I had only had the
replacement pair for 6 months. They agreed to give me the next (3rd) pair for half
price, but again I am at the 5 month mark with them and the soles are starting to
dissolve. I have been meticulously careful with last two pairs, foowing all the
instructions for care. But it's made no difference. I have severe foot problems and
they are incredibly comfortable, but shoes normally last me 4 or 5 years and at
$300 they are just not worth it for 6 months wear! There is clearly a design issue
with the material they use in their soles!

I've had 6 pairs over 10 years. All have lasted many years. Only one pair disintegrated as described but it was after about 4 years and while I was using them as a pair I wore in bad weather. I don't usually wear the same pair 2 days in a row. I wear MBT almost every day and walk an average of 4 miles a day so my problem has been wearing out the bottom of the soles. I remain a real fan. Great improvement in my posture and reduction of back pain.

I have the same problem. I live in the Netherlands, i wear my shoes one time each week. After 2 years, i see that the material that absorbs the shocks between the layers in the sole, start to desintegrate. Ik see a hole and both soles are detached from the shoe on several points. Dutch headquarter became bankrupt last year, the company had a restart. I will try to contact the local shop that sold my shoes. It is a production fault, wrong material.

I have three new pairs which I have bought a year ago, when I starting using one
after a few hours I noticed that the sensor disintegrated, I checked on the other
pairs and noticed that these too dis integrate as soon as I put some pressure.
i would like to have the address or e-mail to contact the manufacturer.

I've lost 9 pairs of MBT shoes because the exact same problem with the material between the sole and the shoe Towards the back of the shoe in the heel area disintegrates. Hopefully, the newer models will have corrected this problem but I remain unsure. for some pairs I took them to a shoe repair shop and he filled in the material that disintegrated with Some spongy harder rubber, but that was uncomfortable and it also made the sold the shoe rather flat, defeating the purpose of the MBT shoes. I definitely believe the product is defective but I am hoping that the newer models fix the problem.

I hardly ever used my MBTs- bought two years ago and kept in a dry,
dark room. Went to use them last week and found the midsoles had
crumbled. Contacted MBT and they said they must have been stored in an
acidic environment which, of course, they had not.

MBT even have the nerve to only offer a 6 month guarantee. They can't
have much faith in their products. (Fortunately the UK law would
override this with a 12 month guarantee)
